Meet Our Panelists
Karen Owens, MSW, Education and Family Services Manager at Alzheimer’s Association
Karen obtained her Master of Social Work through a joint program of North Carolina A&T State University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). She holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from UNCG. She has worked in various mental health settings, such as, an outpatient mental health practice providing diagnostic assessments, individual and group therapy, a hospital setting providing clinical assessments, and as staff on the Geriatric Adult Mental Health Specialty Team providing psycho education to staff in long term care facilities.
Samantha Culler, MSW, LCSW, Clinical Director, Memory Counseling Program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center
Samanatha received her Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from the UNC Chapel Hill in 2016 and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at Salem College in 2006. Currently, she provides mental health services to people living with dementia and their care partners and supervises clinical operations. Prior to joining the MCP, she provided mental health services to people living with multiple, chronic health conditions at an Extensivist Clinic at Cornerstone Health Care in High Point, NC. She is Level I and Level II trained in EMDR therapy.
Meet Our Moderator
Risa Hanau, LCSW is the Clinical and Community Educator at AuthoraCare Collective. Risa is a seasoned presenter and teacher in the area of end-of-life and ethics. She is a member of the Cone Health Ethics Committee. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by training and holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Pennsylvania.
