Understanding comes from knowing and the diagnosis of a progressive or terminal illness can create a crisis for patients and families. This 2 part webinar will explore the physical, emotional and spiritual impact on patients and family members from earlier stages of illness up through death and bereavement. Palliative Care and Hospice experts will share their knowledge along the husband of a patient who served as a caregiver through the time of his wife’s death.

Part Two will focus on the later stages of illness including care needs, physical changes in the weeks and days prior to death. Challenges of caregiving and family coping will be discussed along with grief before and after the death takes place.

Meet Our Panelists

Dr. Cheryl Greenberg, Ed.D. is a life coach for seniors and their families who are in transition, whether they are dealing with physical and cognitive changes or they are planning new, active futures. With her guidance and support, clients who are dealing with health issues, including dementias, learn about changes, caregiving, and navigating the feelings that arise with these illnesses. Clients who are planning new paths explore possibilities and plan for satisfying roles and adventures. Cheryl’s doctorate focused on adult development and memory improvement for older adults. She currently speaks and writes about healthy paths for older adults, and volunteers for organizations that support seniors such as AARP, the Alzheimer’s Association, Adult Children of Aging Parents, and the Triad Retirement Living Association.


Meet Our Moderator

Risa Hanau, LCSW is the Clinical and Community Educator at AuthoraCare Collective. Risa is a seasoned presenter and teacher in the area of end-of-life and ethics. She is a member of the Cone Health Ethics Committee. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by training and holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Pennsylvania.
