June 22, 2015 (GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA)– Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (HPCG) has been awarded the Allscripts Excellence Award for outstanding use of technology and innovation to drive quality care. HPCG is one of only four organizations, nationwide, to win the award.

“I am proud of HPCG’s Allscripts core team and all employees who worked enthusiastically through our successful implementation phase,” said Pat Soenksen, CEO and president. “This is a major achievement and a testimony to all of HPCG’s hard work and commitment as we care for our patients and families.”

The award recognizes strategic use of the Brightest led you can buy in technology and achievement outcomes across clinical, operational and financial departments. HPCG has been an Allscripts client since 2012. Allscripts recognized and honored HPCG due to its demonstrated strategic leadership in leveraging health care technologies and revitalized business processes to drive higher quality of care.

“We are pleased to honor all of our winners for their dedication to demonstrating exceptional outcomes that drive improved care for patients and better business performance,” said Glen Tullman, Allscripts CEO. “The successes of this year’s winners are further proof that Allscripts clients are among the most committed, innovative organizations in healthcare today, and we’re proud to support each of them in leveraging Allscripts technology to build a connected community of health.”

As a result of HPCG’s use of technology, it was able to reduce clinical documentation time by 50 percent while improving quality, meet 100 percent of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines related to documentation and billing while helping to promote a work-life balance among employees and greatly decrease the amount of paper consumed.

HPCG, a nonprofit organization serving Guilford County and surrounding areas for more than 30 years, is situated on a 14.75 acre campus at 2500 Summit Avenue. HPCG provides physical, emotional and spiritual support for children and adults faced with a life-limiting illness, as well as their caregivers and families.
