Care for Veterans

Veterans often carry experiences from their military service that present unique health care challenges. AuthoraCare Collective is committed to providing specialized comfort and support to veterans and their family members. That’s why we are a proud partner in the We Honor Veterans program, a national initiative started by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the Veterans Administration.

AuthoraCare Collective’s Greensboro and Burlington Campuses are Level 5 We Honor Veterans Partners: the highest level currently offered. Only 11 hospice organizations in North Carolina have achieved this prestigious rank. This demonstrates an organization-wide commitment to provide exceptional health care and support to veterans and their families.

Through our We Honor Veterans program, we:

  • Practice respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment for veterans.
  • Offer a Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer program that pairs veteran patients with volunteers who are also Veterans so that they might better understand each other’s experiences.
  • Engage our AuthoraCare staff in continuing education courses and workshops so they are better informed about veteran health care needs.
  • Coordinate care with the Department of Veteran Affairs and other health care organizations.

Many veterans face challenges from past illnesses, combat wounds, isolation or traumatic life experiences. As a We Honor Veterans partner, AuthoraCare is well-equipped to address these challenges while honoring each veteran’s unique story.

We believe it is never too late to say, “Thank you for your service.”

“My dad had the best of care, and was even smiling at a time of constant pain. I am thankful for the help and consideration during the entire time. Without hospice, I could not have made things work out.”
