HPCG to Hold Presentation about Overdose Loss

(GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA)–On Tuesday, August 22, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (HPCG) will host an evening presentation about the impact of losing a loved one to drug overdose. The event will be held from 6 – 7 p.m. in the Lusk Center at 2501 Summit Avenue and will feature a panel of people who are currently walking the path of grief and healing after the loss of a loved one to overdose.
“Our presenters have all been directly impacted by addiction and overdose,” said Mary Easton, a bereavement counselor at HPCG. “We want to spread their message and raise awareness about the support that is available to people struggling with this traumatic loss.”
HPCG has started a support group specifically for those grieving the overdose death of a loved one. The group was started in response to growing community need. The Counseling and Education Center at HPCG also offers one-on-one counseling and makes this support available to everyone in Greensboro and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay.
All are invited to attend this event, whether you are also grieving a loss or simply want to show your support.
“The stigma surrounding addiction can be isolating,” said Easton. “We want to send the message that you are not alone in this struggle.”
