About The Bright Hour
Riggs’ memoir takes place largely in Greensboro, NC during her final years as she faced breast cancer. It was published posthumously in 2017 to critical acclaim and commercial success. She was just 37 years old when initially diagnosed with “one small spot.” Within a year, the mother of two sons—ages seven and nine—and married 16 years, received the devastating news that her cancer was terminal.
